The A259 road follows a 120 mile course from Emsworth in Hampshire to Folkestone in Kent, running roughly parallell to the southern coast.
Travels Around Route 259 is a photographic exploration of this road and its surrounding landscape, taking in castles, piers, towers, lighthouses and well regarded coastal landscapes.
Inspired by the rich local history of the coastline and the work of artists such as Eric Ravilious, Eric Slater and John Constable, its the culmination of a series of excursions and serendipitious discoveries over several years.
Each photograph is accompanied by a short essay highlighting some interesting facts about the history of the location shown, providing an interesting guide to "Route 259".
After all, if Route 66 is good enough for the USA...
